What you will do

• Own end-to-end systems design for key components of the scanning engine, from design through deployment and iteration.
• Design and implement production services in Python and Go for scanning workflows, ensuring maintainability, testing, and observability.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of distributed scanning workloads while meeting strict SLAs.
• Partner with security, product, and data teams to translate detection/scanning requirements into robust systems and APIs.
• Drive technical excellence via code review rigor, design documentation, secure coding best practices, and standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues and mentor engineers through design feedback and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Strong experience as a Senior Software Engineer (or equivalent) on backend or systems-level services.
• Proficiency in at least one of Python or Go, with willingness to work in both over time.
• Systems design experience for distributed or high-availability services with scalability, reliability, and observability fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience building/maintaining scanning, detection, or similar high-throughput engine-like systems.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Cloud-native experience (e.g., microservices, containers, CI/CD, monitoring, logging).

Salary: $149,600–$199,600/year (Alberta, British Columbia & Ontario) or $134,600–$184,600/year (other locations in Canada)
