Lead Mechanical Engineer (Hardware): Overseeing the development of complex electromechanical products from concept through to high-volume production with an accent on thermal, fluid, and mechanism design. Focus on leading cross-functional teams, managing manufacturing cycles in Asia, and driving the hardware product roadmap to deliver high-performance sleep fitness technology.

Location: Must be based in San Francisco and work from the office 5 days/week

Salary: $225K – $300K + Equity

What you will do

• Lead mechanical engineering execution across the full development cycle, including concept definition, feasibility, and production ramp.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership on architectural trade-offs involving thermals, fluids, mechanisms, and sensing.
• Manage and coach a team of mechanical, soft goods, and prototype engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in electrical, software, clinical, and operations to execute the product roadmap.
• Implement systems and processes for design reviews, ownership, and phase gates to ensure team efficiency.
• Travel to Asia to manage suppliers and ensure successful production delivery.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing complex electromechanical systems, preferably in high-volume consumer hardware.
• Proven track record of scaling products to high-volume production in Asia, including EVT, DVT, and PVT.
• Deep expertise in injection molding, electronics integration, and mechanism design.
• Demonstrated ability to hire, manage, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed.
• Ability to work from the San Francisco office 5 days/week.
