Systems Modeling & Optimization Engineer (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Must be based in the US (Mountain View, CA)

Salary: $196,000–$242,000 USD

What you will do

• Build unified modeling and simulation tools for vehicle energy consumption and fleet-level TCO.
• Develop physics-based simulation models across all vehicle operating modes and environmental conditions.
• Create city-level fleet simulators to evaluate interactions between operations, orchestration, and infrastructure.
• Use simulation tools to inform critical vehicle and system architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with software, product, data science, and operations teams to guide roadmaps.

Requirements

• 5+ years of work experience in systems modeling and data science.
• Proficiency in Python, Matlab, or similar languages for physics-based modeling.
• Strong background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
• Experience leading and delivering cross-functional workstreams.
• Strong communication skills for complex technical analyses.

Nice to have

• Experience applying machine learning models in real-world applications.
• Experience with agentic coding tools like Claude Code or Codex.
• Background in modeling electric vehicle powertrains or thermal domains.
• Experience applying Operations Research to real-world problems.
