Senior Kernel/Hypervisor Engineer, EC2 Core Compute (AWS Nitro)

What you will do

• Build solutions across the virtualization software stack, including virtualization components and automated infrastructure flows.
• Develop and operate the EC2 Nitro Hypervisor and off-host software components.
• Engineer new EC2 instance families using the latest CPU generations.
• Own the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Improve hypervisor quality, instance platforms, security, performance, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and firmware teams and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems for reliability and scaling.
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
• Several years of experience working with kernels or virtualization and using Linux command-line tools.
• Experience writing clean, optimized, and scalable code in C or Rust.
• Understanding of operating-system internals.
• Ability to work in Berlin, Germany.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in at least one CPU architecture, such as x86 or ARM.
