Salary: $225,000–$260,000 base, plus equity and benefits

What you will do
- Own the architecture, technical roadmap, and production releases for the COB product.
- Stay hands-on through architectural design, code reviews, and selective coding to set the technical bar.
- Hire, develop, and retain a team of 5–6 engineers through coaching and performance management.
- Establish engineering standards, operational practices, and delivery rhythms for a greenfield product.
- Guide the design of core rules engines, claims pipelines, and AI-driven determinations.
- Partner with product, ML, UX, and operations to translate requirements into scoped, measurable work.
Requirements
- Must be based in the US
- 3+ years of technical leadership and engineering management experience.
- 8+ years building production backend services and applications.
- Hands-on experience with microservice architectures, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in Java, GoLang, Scala, or Rust.
- Proven track record of hiring and managing high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills for translating technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in healthcare, insurance, or finance domains.
- Experience shipping AI/ML-driven features in production.
- Familiarity with claims, payments, or payment-integrity workflows.
- Experience operating systems on regulated data (PHI/PII).
- Experience designing high-throughput rules or decisioning engines.
