What you will do

• Serve as the senior subject-matter expert for combustion systems and boiler performance across all Waste-to-Energy facilities.
• Evaluate operating data and trends to identify cause-and-effect relationships impacting reliability and emissions.
• Provide expert guidance on control strategy adjustments and system interactions to improve combustion stability and throughput.
• Lead root cause analyses (RCA) for environmental exceedances and abnormal emissions events.
• Coach and mentor engineers and plant personnel on combustion fundamentals and systems thinking.
• Build trusted relationships between plant operations, facility leadership, and corporate engineering.

Requirements

• Must be based in the USA.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related engineering (or equivalent job experience).
• 8–10 years of experience in combustion systems, boiler performance, or industrial power generation.
• Proven ability to analyze complex operating data and translate findings into practical, high-impact recommendations.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% to support facility needs and investigations.

Nice to have

• Waste-to-Energy or solid-fuel combustion experience.
• Experience supporting environmental compliance investigations or emissions-related RCAs.
• Deep familiarity with combustion control systems and distributed control systems (DCS).
• Track record of influencing outcomes without direct authority.
