What you will do

  • Lead payload management activities across missions involving multiple providers, ensuring alignment with system requirements and program schedules.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between internal engineering teams, external payload suppliers, and customers.
  • Define and manage complex payload interfaces across mechanical, electrical, thermal, data, and RF domains.
  • Drive mission analysis, including operational scenario development, coverage analysis, and system budget management.
  • Oversee payload integration, verification, and test activities, including anomaly resolution and launch readiness.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers within the systems team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, spacecraft development, or payload engineering.
  • First-hand experience with payload-level engineering, integration, or operations planning for space systems.
  • Strong understanding of payload-to-spacecraft interfaces and mission analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with external suppliers and customers in a technical interface role.
  • Willingness to leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and design quality.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with mission analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or STK.
  • Familiarity with space industry standards like ECSS or NASA Systems Engineering Handbook.
  • Experience supporting technical reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, or FRR.
