Senior Software Engineer, Test Infrastructure (Python)

Zoox is developing autonomous vehicle technology to redefine urban mobility.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and core of the distributed test-orchestration platform, including scheduling and result-collection engines.
• Lead a small engineering team of engineers and contractors, setting technical direction and reviewing code.
• Design for system resiliency at scale, ensuring no result loss and predictable behavior across hundreds of test runs.
• Build clean APIs and frameworks that allow other teams to integrate their own test suites seamlessly.
• Partner with multiple cross-functional teams to deliver critical test tooling for production and validation.

Requirements

• Strong production Python experience, specifically building distributed task/queue systems (e.g., Celery) with Redis or RabbitMQ.
• Deep expertise with pytest (fixtures, parametrization) and designing scalable test frameworks.
• Solid fundamentals in distributed systems, networking (HTTP, TCP/IP), Docker, and PostgreSQL.
• Proven experience as a technical lead or architect owning systems end-to-end and mentoring others.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Foster City, CA.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bazel or other large-monorepo build systems.
• Experience deploying services on AWS/Kubernetes (EKS, Helm, ArgoCD) and using observability tools like Grafana or Prometheus.
• Background in manufacturing, hardware, or vehicle test systems (CAN/DoIP, Automotive Ethernet, HIL).
