Senior Quality Software Engineer (Python/Rust)

Location: Austin, TX; hybrid role with on-site work and less than 10% travel. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance are required.

What you will do

• Build and own the Core Engineering test automation framework across Python and Rust.
• Develop unit, integration, regression, and scenario-level test coverage.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD with functional, security, dependency, and vulnerability gates.
• Protect CUI and export-controlled data by enforcing clean-zone and vendor-accessible test boundaries.
• Build quality metrics and component-level dashboards covering coverage, flake rate, false positives, and detection and triage time.
• Own go/no-go checklists, diagnose failures, issue release recommendations, and grow the QE function as the team expands.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in software quality engineering, including building test infrastructure from scratch.
• Production-quality test code and maintained test harnesses; Python is required, with Rust experience or a clear plan to learn it.
• Hands-on CI/CD integration, including building gates, debugging flaky tests, and enforcing release blocks.
• Experience with distributed and concurrent systems, quality dashboards, and metrics that support go/no-go decisions.
• Experience integrating SAST, dependency scanning, vulnerability testing, and compliance validation aligned with NIST 800-171 or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance; export-control eligibility under applicable U.S. regulations.

Nice to have

• Background in defense, robotics, aerospace, or autonomous systems.
• Hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop testing experience.
• Simulation-based test pipelines.
• Edge or resource-constrained testing experience.
• Active security clearance.
