What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of core platform pillars: ingestion, transformation, governance, and data quality.
• Define engineering patterns and reference architectures for Databricks pipelines and ship production flows.
• Establish benchmarks for data quality and governance using data contracts, lineage, and validation frameworks.
• Direct the technical strategy for applying AI to data engineering, including agentic systems and conversational analytics.
• Mentor senior engineers and act as the quality standard bearer for code and engineering judgment.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience architecting and operating large-scale data platforms.
• Deep mastery of Databricks (Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Spark).
• Expert proficiency in SQL and Python for complex data modeling and platform tooling.
• Strong experience operating data systems at scale within AWS.
• Proven track record of integrating LLMs and AI tooling into developer workflows.
• Must be based in California (CA), USA
