Embedded Software Engineer (Electrification Propulsion)

TL;DR

Embedded Software Engineer (Embedded C/C++): Designing and implementing embedded controls algorithms and software for electric vehicle propulsion systems with an accent on mechatronic control and diagnostics. Focus on translating physics-based requirements into production-ready code and verifying performance through automated testing in vehicles and benches.

Location: Hybrid: Must report to Milford, Michigan at least three times per week

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and test embedded controls algorithms for electrification propulsion.
• Translate physics-based and controls requirements into robust mechatronic software.
• Demonstrate feature readiness through rigorous testing and verification.
• Build common, scalable software solutions across GM-owned platforms.
• Document requirements and link them to test cases to ensure thorough verification.
• Use automated test tools, builds, and vehicle benches to verify performance at controller and system levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical, or related engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in embedded controls software development.
• Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• Knowledge of Auto Code Generation.
• Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, ETAS INCA, or Vector CANape.
• Experience with distributed version control systems such as GIT.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded controls software development.
• Knowledge of AUTOSAR standards, CAN, LIN, and Ethernet protocols.
• Experience with Python, JIRA, and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
• Knowledge of bootloaders, embedded operating systems, and controller communication.
