What you will do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of AI-driven workflow automation and backend system initiatives.
• Translate complex operational and business problems into clear system designs and engineering execution plans.
• Design backend architectures and workflow systems for multi-step insurance processes and policy lifecycles.
• Review architecture and code to ensure correctness, scalability, and reliability.
• Mentor engineers to raise overall engineering standards and system thinking.
• Collaborate with product, operations, QA, and DevOps to deliver production-ready systems.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering experience building production systems at scale.
• Proven experience leading technical delivery of backend or full-stack systems.
• Ability to break down complex operational workflows into implementation plans.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on mindset with the ability to contribute directly to code.
• Must be based in China to collaborate with Malaysia-based teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow automation, SaaS platforms, or enterprise backend systems.
• Experience with event-driven architectures or state machine-based systems.
• Experience with AI/ML-enabled workflow or decision automation.
• Knowledge of Node.js, Python, Java, or similar backend technologies.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
