Principal Observability & Reliability Architect (Dynatrace)

Location: Remote within the United States; hybrid workplace designation with primary locations in Chicago, Illinois, New York, New York, and Atlanta, Georgia. Occasional travel of 0–15% may be required.

Compensation: $180,000–$240,000 per year in on-target earnings, including base salary and any applicable target bonus.

What you will do

• Architect enterprise-scale Dynatrace solutions, including multi-tenant and hybrid designs, ActiveGate topology, agent deployment, OpenTelemetry instrumentation, licensing governance, and AI-workload observability.
• Design observability architectures covering monitoring, logging, metrics, tracing, telemetry pipelines, alerting, event correlation, and service visibility across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Establish SRE practices involving SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, production readiness, incident response, postmortems, and reliability roadmaps.
• Lead client assessments, advisory workshops, maturity roadmaps, operating models, adoption strategies, AIOps, and automation initiatives.
• Lead modernization programs, platform migrations, ITSM and CMDB integrations, architectural reviews, and complex delivery escalations.
• Support pre-sales, develop reusable architectures and accelerators, advise executives, mentor consultants, and contribute to thought leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in observability, APM, SRE, or related disciplines, including enterprise-scale distributed and multi-cloud architecture.
• 4+ years of hands-on enterprise Dynatrace experience covering architecture, governance, OneAgent, Kubernetes, Smartscape, PurePath, Grail, DQL, Davis AI, SLOs, workflows, automation, and ITSM integration.
• Dynatrace Professional certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months, plus professional-level certification on another platform.
• Applied SRE experience with SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, production readiness, incident reviews, and reliability programs.
• Working expertise in OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, AWS, Azure, or GCP monitoring services; strong knowledge of telemetry governance and platform architecture.
• Strong consultative, executive-facing, communication, mentoring, automation, ITIL, ITSM, and DevOps experience.

Nice to have

• Dynatrace partner program experience or both Dynatrace Professional certifications.
• Migration experience from AppDynamics, New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, LogicMonitor, or other legacy monitoring platforms.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry Collector, Grafana Alloy, Fluent Bit, Kafka, Cribl, Vector, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience integrating ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, BigPanda, or xMatters.
• Published thought leadership, conference speaking, named offerings, accelerators, or relevant cloud, SRE, ITIL, or FinOps certifications.
