Location: Bozeman, Montana, United States; Missoula, Montana, United States
Salary: $115,000–$142,000 upon hire

What you will do
- Evolve onX’s total rewards strategy across compensation, benefits, wellness, recognition, and employee support programs.
- Lead compensation benchmarking, job architecture, leveling, pay bands, and compensation review cycles to ensure equitable market-aligned pay.
- Evaluate and evolve benefits and wellness programs, manage vendor relationships, and build business cases balancing employee needs and cost effectiveness.
- Provide guidance on complex employee support matters (leave administration, benefits escalations, sensitive situations) with strong judgment and compliance expertise.
- Operate as a player-coach: design programs and drive hands-on execution, partnering with People Operations for benefits administration and employee support.
- Build scalable operations by improving systems, processes, documentation, and automation/AI-enabled workflows to increase scale and decision quality.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years focused on Total Rewards, Compensation, Benefits, or closely related disciplines.
- Proven experience designing, evolving, and operating total rewards programs, including compensation benchmarking (e.g., Radford, Mercer), job architecture, leveling, and market analysis.
- Experience scaling total rewards in growing organizations, including how employee needs, processes, and systems change over time.
- Experience partnering with leaders, recruiters, and hiring managers on compensation decisions (offers, leveling, market positioning, retention, workforce planning).
- Permanent U.S. work authorization is a condition of employment.
- Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location.
