Senior Network Security Engineer

Location: Four days per week in the office in Overland Park, Kansas, or Chicago, Illinois, United States

Salary: $119,000–$169,400 annual base salary, plus potential incentive compensation and equity participation.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, migrate, and optimize Palo Alto firewall solutions across global offices and data centers.
• Architect security policies, segmentation, SSL decryption, centralized management, and secure connectivity.
• Lead network and security integrations using BGP, OSPF, routing design, failover, and traffic engineering.
• Partner with network, cloud, and infrastructure teams to implement resilient connectivity across on-premises and hybrid environments.
• Act as a senior escalation point for firewall and network troubleshooting, packet analysis, routing, NAT, policy enforcement, and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and NOC staff, manage work intake, communicate technical risks to leadership, and improve security architecture.

Requirements

• 7+ years of network and security engineering experience across enterprise routing, switching, and firewall platforms.
• 5+ years of hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience, including SSL decryption, security profiles, and Panorama management.
• Strong experience with BGP, OSPF, NAT, TCP/IP, traffic flows, packet-level analysis, and structured troubleshooting.
• Experience with segmentation, access control, zone-based design, microsegmentation, zero-trust concepts, firewall migrations, and enterprise security architecture.
• Experience with scripting or API-driven automation.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with Arista, proxy platforms, F5 or other load balancers, and multi-vendor infrastructure.
• Cloud networking and security experience with AWS, Cloudflare, or similar edge platforms.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes networking, segmentation, and network policies.
• Relevant Palo Alto, Cisco, or equivalent industry certifications.
