Sr Perimeter Network Engineer (Palo Alto)

Location: 229 West 43rd Street, New York, New York, United States; external candidates may be required to attend an in-person interview at a company location.

Salary: USD 128,000–156,000 yearly

What you will do

• Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize physical and virtual Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls.
• Lead architecture for security zones, segmentation, NAT, security policies, App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID, and GlobalProtect VPN.
• Manage Panorama and high-availability firewall clusters across multi-site and hybrid Azure and GCP environments.
• Configure and optimize IPS/IDS, URL Filtering, WildFire, DNS Security, and SSL decryption.
• Monitor incidents, conduct firewall rule reviews and audits, troubleshoot complex network issues, and support vulnerability remediation.
• Serve as a perimeter security subject-matter expert, mentor junior engineers, and lead firewall migration and upgrade projects.

Requirements

• 7+ years of network engineering experience and 5+ years of hands-on Palo Alto Networks firewall experience.
• Strong experience with Panorama, GlobalProtect, IPSec and SSL VPNs, BGP, OSPF, routing, network segmentation, and zero-trust design.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, NAT, VLANs, DNS/DHCP, and SSL/TLS.
• Experience managing high-availability firewall deployments and troubleshooting complex enterprise environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and independent leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Palo Alto certifications, preferably PCNSE.
• Experience with VM-Series, Prisma Access, or SASE solutions.
• Automation experience with Python, Ansible, or REST APIs.
• Experience integrating SIEM platforms such as Splunk or Sentinel.
• Experience in large enterprise or multi-data-center environments.
