Environmental Field Technician

Location: Beacon, New York, United States; primarily outdoor work with occasional office work

Salary: $33–$37 per hour

What you will do

• Collect samples from drinking water, soil, groundwater, concrete, asphalt, surface water, sediment, indoor air, and soil vapor.
• Operate field equipment such as water level indicators, turbidity meters, and pH and conductivity meters.
• Operate and maintain groundwater extraction, soil vapor extraction, and chemical injection remediation systems.
• Complete safety analyses, field reports, field notes, monitoring records, and chain-of-custody documentation.
• Perform scheduled tests, observations, inspections, and field activities in accordance with project procedures.
• Support engineering, hydrogeologic, and scientific evaluations by gathering and documenting field data.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or trade school education is preferred.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience, with environmental field experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in facilities maintenance, public works, plumbing, electrical, mechanical work, construction, or a similar trade is relevant.
• Strong mechanical skills and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds occasionally, sometimes over substantial distances.
• Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required for travel to and from work sites.

• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
