TL;DR

Senior Archaeologist (Cultural Resources Management): Leading archaeological investigations and regulatory compliance projects for environmental studies with an accent on CEQA, NEPA, and NHPA requirements. Location: Must be based in Northern California (Sacramento office or remote within the region).

Salary: $73,770 – $125,408

What you will do

  • Manage project lifecycles including scoping, staffing, budget control, and progress reporting.
  • Lead archaeological investigations, resource evaluations, and regulatory compliance solutions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of historians, planners, and environmental scientists.
  • Perform historical research, fieldwork, and technical report writing.
  • Support clients through programmatic strategies and feasibility studies.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to project schedules and cost requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in cultural resources management.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
  • Must be based in Northern California.

Nice to have

  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) certification.
  • Master’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology.
  • Thorough knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and Section 106 regulatory requirements.
  • Experience as a BLM-permitted Principal Investigator in California and Nevada.
  • Strong fieldwork skills including pedestrian/subsurface survey and GPS proficiency.
