Manager, Environmental Compliance & Sustainability

Location: US Remote; role supports U.S. and Canadian operations and may require travel up to 30% to company sites in North America, with potential international travel.

Salary: $140,000–$175,000 per year for US-based candidates; equity compensation may also be available.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop Environmental Specialists while serving as the escalation point for complex regulatory, permitting, and waste matters.
• Administer environmental compliance programs and standards across U.S. and Canadian sites, including hazardous waste, Tier II reporting, KPIs, and recurring regulatory requirements.
• Review site compliance programs, permits, and submissions covering air, wastewater, stormwater, SPCC, hazardous waste, and related regulations.
• Run environmental monitoring and peer reviews, verify corrective actions, and support inspections, audits, and enforcement matters.
• Manage environmental service providers and waste vendors while supporting waste reduction, recycling, diversion, and circular economy initiatives.
• Support GHG emissions inventories, packaging EPR projects, environmental reviews for new builds and acquisitions, and programs in the EU, Australia, and Japan.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or management, engineering, industrial technology, business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of environmental compliance experience with expertise in hazardous waste and environmental regulatory programs.
• Experience managing or leading EHS employees or other technical staff and reviewing regulatory submissions.
• Strong experience with multi-site hazardous waste programs, permitting, Tier II reporting, inspections, audits, and federal, state, and provincial regulations including CAA, CWA, RCRA, and EPCRA.
• Experience managing waste vendors and supporting waste reduction, recycling, GHG accounting, and packaging EPR projects.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, including regular travel to North American sites and potential international travel.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in environmental management, environmental science, or a related field.
• Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification.
• Knowledge of packaging EPR, recycling schemes, circular economy principles, OSHA, HAZWOPER, hazard communication, or ISO 14001.
• Experience supporting environmental programs outside the U.S. or working in laboratory, pharmacy, compounding, manufacturing, or fulfillment environments.
