Senior Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Design, prototype, and implement solutions that expand Kubernetes platform capabilities using Helm, Argo CD, GitLab, Harbor, and GitOps practices.
• Automate operational tasks and build Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD workflows to simplify processes and reduce technical debt.
• Improve platform security, scalability, reliability, availability, monitoring, alerting, and maintenance.
• Identify bottlenecks and optimize platform performance for growing organizational demands.
• Collaborate with development teams to gather requirements and improve platform offerings.
• Provide progress reports and technical guidance to NASIC leadership and product owners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, ownership, and independent work skills.
• Basic understanding of software development practices.

Nice to have

• IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+, or higher.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker or Podman, Linux, Helm, GitOps, CI/CD, and cloud-based application deployment.
• Experience with connected and air-gapped environments, Terraform, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
• Experience with Argo, Backstage, Coder, Harbor, Grafana, Prometheus, Velero, VictoriaMetrics, security, auditing, identity, and access management.
