Data Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Develop automated workflows for data collection, transformation, and delivery.
• Improve data models supporting business intelligence tools and data-driven decisions.
• Implement data quality monitoring, integrity controls, integrations, and governance frameworks.
• Help define long-term data platform architecture and document technical designs and workflows.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, information systems, or a related quantitative discipline.
• At least two years of experience in data engineering, software development, or related roles.
• At least two years of hands-on experience with Databricks, ETL tools, and SQL or PL/SQL development.
• Proficiency in Python or R, with familiarity with cloud platforms, big data technologies, relational and NoSQL databases, and data warehousing.
• Experience with tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Alteryx, Knime, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with multiple relational database management systems, including SQL Server and Oracle.
• Experience translating complex data into actionable business insights and executive-level narratives.
