R&D System Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Singapore. The role includes occasional travel within Asia and Europe.

What you will do

• Design and develop automated inspection and metrology machines.
• Integrate mechatronic, optical, mechanical, hardware, and software building blocks.
• Analyze customer requirements and translate them into measurable system requirements.
• Build and test high-speed mechatronic setups for specification validation and parameter analysis.
• Define and implement material-handling flows and detailed micro-sequences.
• Lead multidisciplinary project or product teams while managing technical, budget, timeline, and resource considerations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in electro-mechanical, electronics, or mechanical engineering.
• 3+ years of relevant system engineering experience in a high-end equipment company.
• Experience with machine design, specifications, PLC controller hardware and software, user interfaces, flow testing, debugging, characterization, and improvement projects.
• Strong analytical, project management, and program management skills.
• Hands-on, self-organized approach with independent thinking and ownership.
• Proficient English and willingness to travel occasionally within Asia and Europe.

Nice to have

• Programming experience with PLC controllers, C, C++, Python, or VBA.
