Senior (Lead) Platform Data Engineer (Azure)

Location: Helsinki, Finland; flexible hybrid working model with remote-work tools. Relocation support is available for exceptional candidates.

Salary: Senior Platform Data Engineer €5,300–€6,500/month; Lead Platform Data Engineer €6,200–€7,400/month. Higher compensation may be discussed for particularly senior profiles.

What you will do

• Build and maintain reliable, maintainable data pipelines that process and move large datasets between systems.
• Design data architecture and processing flows using code, with a focus on reproducibility and production quality.
• Own cloud environments and infrastructure, including permissions, deployment patterns, security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Operate and monitor data systems, implementing metrics, health checks, validation, and data-quality controls.
• Automate recurring data processes and improve the data environment as the platform grows.
• Gather technical requirements, explain architectural trade-offs, collaborate across teams, and resolve root causes of data and integration issues.

Requirements

• Solid data engineering and ELT experience building maintainable, code-based data pipelines.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, experience processing large datasets, and familiarity with distributed processing such as Spark.
• Experience with cloud data technologies, preferably Azure, including Synapse, Fabric, or Databricks.
• Strong software engineering practices, including Git, automated testing, CI/CD-style workflows, and clean, reproducible code.
• Experience with data architecture, monitoring, system health, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to communicate technical trade-offs, gather requirements, and deliver independently as part of a team.

Nice to have

• Experience with procurement, ERP, accounting, or other complex enterprise data.
• Infrastructure-as-code and platform or environment ownership experience.
• Experience with analytics engineering, dbt, version-controlled transformations, or semantic and data modeling.
• Experience with privacy-preserving analytics, anonymized datasets, or aggregation thresholds.
• Familiarity with polyglot environments and tools such as YAML or C#.
