Location: Deployments to McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Must be based in or have a valid US passport for deployment.

What you will do

• Provide weather forecasting services for aviation, ships, and site operations in Antarctica.
• Develop forecasts and prepare briefings for pilots, outlying camps, and field parties.
• Record and disseminate surface weather observations (METAR/SPECI) following DoD and WMO guidelines.
• Prepare and launch balloon/radiosonde equipment for the upper-air program.
• Create weather charts and briefing materials for operational use.
• Maintain climatological databases and operate data collection systems.

Requirements

• Valid US passport and ability to obtain a T1 Clearance through the government customer.
• Must pass a physical and dental qualification required by the United States Antarctic Program for deployment.
• Ability to perform job duties in extreme cold and dark work environments.
• For Forecasters: High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years of forecast operation experience (including 2 years in airport forecasting).
• For Observers: High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years of experience as a qualified weather observer for surface observations at an aviation facility.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
