TL;DR
Controller/Director of Finance (Nonprofit): Managing financial systems, accounting, and compliance for a foundation focused on digital equity with an accent on GAAP compliance, financial modeling, and organizational reporting. Focus on overseeing Fiscally Sponsored Projects, optimizing internal audits, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management.
Location: Remote (Occasional in-person meetings in Baltimore). Must be based in a time zone compatible with early morning meetings.
Salary: $95,000 - $130,000 annually

What you will do
- Design and oversee financial systems, protocols, and policies to ensure nonprofit best practices and compliance.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and restricted net assets workpapers.
- Develop and forecast budgets while providing financial concierge services to project directors.
- Prepare timely financial statements and manage month, quarter, and year-end closings.
- Lead internal and external audits and ensure strict compliance with GAAP requirements.
- Maintain and utilize Power BI, Dashboards, and Analytics to support data-driven decision making.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an AACSB Accredited institution.
- Strong/Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups) and Journal Entry skills (will be tested during hiring).
- 5+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and modeling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Must live in a time zone that allows for frequent early morning meetings.
Nice to have
- Master's Degree in Accounting.
- Experience working with Nonprofit Organizations.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced General Ledger software.
