Substation Design Engineer

Location: Fully on-site at the Dayton Service Building in Dayton, Ohio, United States

What you will do

• Design all or parts of 12kV through 345kV substations, including physical layouts, one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Develop engineering design packages in line with hirify.global Ohio, IEEE, NERC, and other applicable industry standards.
• Prepare procurement specifications, evaluate proposals, and coordinate purchase orders with Purchasing.
• Provide engineering support to field crews during construction and maintenance activities.
• Support the planning, design, and construction management of substation projects.
• Maintain and optimize internal design standards and engineering databases, and assist with storm restoration and long-duration customer outages.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Ability to work safely and incorporate safety into engineering designs.
• Familiarity with substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, instrument transformers, disconnect switches, and relays.
• Experience with Bentley MicroStation or similar CAD software.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Excel, and Access.

Nice to have

• Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
