Staff Software Engineer (Backend): Designing and driving the technical architecture of multi-system workflows for a screening and verification data platform with an accent on scalability and API design. Focus on integrating vendor data pipelines and building repeatable patterns to accelerate organizational growth.
Location: Hybrid (3+ days/week in office). Hubs in Denver, CO and San Francisco, CA. Relocation stipend may be available for those willing to relocate to a hub location (including Nashville, TN or Santiago, Chile).
Salary: $190,000 – $264,000 USD

What you will do
- Lead the entire product development lifecycle from ideation and design to implementation and release.
- Collaborate with Design, Product, and Data teams to deploy new product experiments and impactful features.
- Define and drive technical initiatives to enable growth at scale and address organizational technical debt.
- Mentor engineers across the organization to raise the overall technical bar.
- Promote development best practices through knowledge sharing and detailed documentation.
- Partner with management during quarterly and annual strategic planning activities.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience with 3+ years in a project leadership role.
- Deep expertise in backend development using Ruby, Node.js, or similar technologies.
- Working proficiency in JavaScript and React to support API development and integrations.
- Experience building high-performance scalable systems with observability and automated testing.
- Must be based in or able to relocate to a hub location (Denver or San Francisco).
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
