What you will do

• Deliver fire protection engineering design and consulting services, including building/fire code consulting, sprinkler design, fire alarm design, and performance-based fire engineering.
• Lead and coordinate fire protection strategy development, including performance-based design approaches and alternative solutions for client design issues.
• Conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits, and coordinate with design teams and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
• Prepare and peer review technical reports, letters, and project documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations for means of egress sizing, maximum allowable building height/area, sprinkler water supply capacity (hydraulic calculations), and smoke control equipment.
• Manage projects and support business development activities; mentor colleagues as appropriate.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in code consulting, fire suppression and alarm system design, and fire performance-based design (PBD) including egress modeling.
• Experience with AHJ plan representation and plan review.
• Experience with fire + life safety building commissioning.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (preferably Fire Protection) or a related field.
• Registered Professional Engineer (or related professional designation) preferred; significant industry experience in fire protection and code consulting may be considered if not on the engineering track.
• Ability to present clear, technically sound fire protection strategies and work independently while interacting with industry professionals and jurisdictional authorities.
