Senior Systems Engineer - Sensor Selection (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States — hybrid. Moderate travel required, approximately 5–15%.

What you will do

• Integrate software, hardware, and product requirements across the Next Gen Autonomous Driving Kit and ADK 6.0 program.
• Own system integration and validation activities, complementing unit-level testing across engineering teams.
• Define system and subsystem metrics, verification criteria, technical requirements, and polished specifications.
• Coordinate system architects, controls teams, test and validation engineers, and OEM platform partners.
• Identify and negotiate cross-functional trade-offs, resolve conflicts, and drive alignment across the development lifecycle.
• Evaluate automotive and regulatory requirements, perform FMEA analysis, and track findings through resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive engineering involving software, hardware, or combined hardware/software products.
• Detailed knowledge of requirements management and requirement-based design.
• Experience leading system integration and validation across hardware and software domains.
• Working knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronic architecture, in-vehicle networking, and ADAS/autonomous vehicle systems.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, organizational, systems-thinking, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience integrating and validating vehicle- or platform-level hardware/software systems.
• Experience supporting OEM programs or working directly with OEM partners.
• Knowledge of LIDAR, radar, Ethernet, CAN, and other automotive or autonomous vehicle technologies.
• Experience with autonomous vehicles, machine learning, robotics, IoT, mobile applications, or startup environments.
