Principal Consultant - Power & Renewables

Location: Hybrid role based in Houston or Boston, United States, with an expectation of 2–3 days per week in the office. Occasional travel throughout the Americas region is required.

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 annual base pay for the Boston, MA location, excluding short-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead complex commercial and strategy consulting mandates across the Americas power and renewables markets.
• Set project approaches and objectives, guide teams, and ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
• Own the quality of analysis and recommendations and present defensible conclusions to senior client audiences.
• Advise clients on commercial decisions and power and renewables transactions, including interaction with C-suite stakeholders.
• Build client relationships, identify opportunities for further work, and coordinate expertise across consulting, research, sales, and account management.
• Coach junior colleagues and support the development of the next generation of consultants.

Requirements

• Typically 7+ years of experience combining consulting fundamentals with power and/or renewables market expertise.
• Proven experience leading projects and teams, with structured problem-solving and strong analytical rigor.
• Ability to turn complex, ambiguous questions into clear, defensible answers and communicate them effectively to senior audiences.
• Knowledge of power and renewables markets, including fundamentals, price formation, wind, solar, storage, gas, flexible resources, and the energy transition.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance, mathematics, physics, or a similar discipline.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Nice to have

• Experience acting as a commercial advisor in power and renewables transactions.
• Financial modelling and power generation asset or market modelling experience, including asset pro-forma models.
• Master’s degree or MBA.
• Python and Agentic AI tool development skills.
