What you will do
- Review VAT returns, reconciliations, and supporting analysis.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to support VAT reporting and issue resolution.
- Apply VAT rules to transactions and ensure correct treatment across systems.
- Support VAT assurance reviews and external audits.
- Identify process gaps and control weaknesses to implement practical improvements.
- Collaborate with finance and business teams to resolve VAT queries.
Requirements
- Must be based in or able to work from Edinburgh.
- Strong VAT compliance experience, ideally within financial services or a large corporate environment.
- Proven experience reviewing complex VAT returns and supporting audits.
- Working knowledge of UK VAT legislation and HMRC guidance.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with Power Query or Alteryx is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
Nice to have
- Relevant professional qualification such as ATT, VAT Compliance Diploma, ACCA, or AAT.
- Experience with finance systems such as Oracle ERP and SAP Ariba.
- Experience with Power Apps and Copilot.
