Senior Software Design Release Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Milford, Michigan, United States; hybrid, with on-site attendance at least three times per week

What you will do

• Create, communicate, and lead product development and software release plans for embedded controller products.
• Coordinate on-time, high-quality delivery of embedded controllers and sub-components across engineering and vehicle manufacturing.
• Manage controller part-number proliferation across end-model, software, and calibration parts.
• Track work status, escalate issues, and drive mitigation of timing and quality risks.
• Lead product issue investigations, root cause analysis, process improvements, and quality initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership, participate in software execution and Agile meetings, and coach other team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
• At least five years of combined experience in at least three embedded controls areas, such as controller hardware, sensors and actuators, algorithms, software development, calibration, integration, testing and validation, electrical architecture, FMEA, or HW/SW DRE.
• Experience with project planning, problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, ambiguity, meeting leadership, and relationship management.
• Proven experience in root cause analysis.
• Understanding of HIL bench testing.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in engineering or computer science and at least five years of automotive experience.
• Understanding of AUTOSAR constructs, diagnostic parameters, GVDP, and software, hardware, and calibration integration.
• Experience with Agile product development, program and project management, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience leading diverse global teams and managing change.
• Familiarity with generative AI and design release or calibration work.
