Senior Autonomy Development Engineer (AI)

Location: Onsite five days a week at the Mossville, Illinois office; some teams may work from Irving, Texas. Relocation assistance may be available.

Salary: $112,710–$183,140 per year

What you will do

• Develop production-quality C/C++ software for autonomous and semi-autonomous heavy equipment.
• Contribute across design, documentation, coding, validation, release support, and deployment.
• Help define software and system requirements, architecture decisions, and technical trade-offs.
• Troubleshoot complex software and system issues using structured diagnostic and problem-solving techniques.
• Support verification, validation, and functional safety activities.
• Collaborate with software, systems, hardware, and validation teams while mentoring other engineers.

Requirements

• Strong C++ programming and software engineering skills, including debugging and profiling.
• Experience across the software development lifecycle and with interpreting system designs and functional documentation.
• Ability to analyze code, logs, and systems to resolve advanced technical problems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or commensurate industry experience.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Travel of up to 15% may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomy domains such as planning, positioning, perception, or controls.
• Robotics frameworks such as ROS and experience translating prototypes or research into production software.
• Autonomy frameworks, middleware, shared libraries, Linux, CI/CD, Git, and DevOps practices.
• Embedded C/C++, real-time systems, AUTOSAR, CAN, Ethernet, Matlab/Simulink, or remote-control systems.
• Experience in the construction or mining industries.
