What you will do

• Oversee the design, development, and operation of data processing services.
• Drive modernization initiatives, including migration to microservices and cloud-native technologies.
• Set technical direction, engineering standards, and operational processes.
• Contribute to the product roadmap and guide team priorities and execution.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering operational mindset and domain expertise.

Requirements

• Must be based in Illinois
• Experience managing engineering teams for mission-critical, high-throughput, low-latency cloud services.
• Solid foundational knowledge in system design, object-oriented programming, and microservice architectures.
• Experience building scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems in a public cloud environment.
• Strong operational skills with a focus on automation, observability, and incident responsiveness.
• Experience leading teams using Scrum or other agile frameworks.

Nice to have

• Track record of modernizing legacy or monolithic architectures.
• Experience managing remote or distributed team members.
• Familiarity with cloud computing, big data, and data engineering technologies like Temporal, Spark, or Azure Data Lake Storage.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
