Senior Staff Engineer (Ruby/React)

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid

Salary: $208,000–$349,655 per year in base pay for candidates based in the United States; expected OTE of $232,000–$390,000 per year, including bonus or commission.

What you will do

• Set the technical vision, architectural direction, quality standards, and technical debt strategy for the Channels division.
• Lead ambiguous, multi-team projects from problem framing and design documentation through implementation, rollout, and operational support.
• Develop shared frameworks, foundational systems, and robust primitives for evolving marketing messaging channels.
• Improve observability, error handling, incremental rollouts, and reliability across dashboard and message delivery layers.
• Mentor engineers through architecture reviews, code reviews, pairing, and clear communication of technical decisions.
• Build platforms and code-generation tooling that help teams launch and mature new channels.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant technical leadership across multiple teams or complex product systems.
• Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and modern frontend development using TypeScript and React.
• Experience designing and shipping foundational infrastructure, frameworks, libraries, or platform services used by other engineers.
• Strong architectural judgment and experience making technical decisions for a maturing product suite.
• Experience with mentoring, communication, consensus building, and driving high-ambiguity projects to completion.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, event-driven architectures, distributed systems, and API design.

Nice to have

• Experience with shared component libraries or design system primitives.
• Experience with real-time systems or event-driven message orchestration.
• Experience with developer experience tooling, code generation, scaffolding, or CI/CD for large-scale codebases.
• Experience scaling a product from early stage to enterprise scale while maintaining developer velocity.
