Senior Staff Engineer (Ruby/React)

Location: Austin, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $208,000–$349,655 per year, with expected OTE of $232,000–$390,000 per year for candidates based in the United States.

What you will do

• Define technical vision, architectural direction, engineering standards, and quality improvements across the Channels division.
• Lead large, ambiguous, multi-team projects from problem framing and design through implementation, rollout, and operational support.
• Build foundational systems, frameworks, platforms, and code-generation tooling for evolving messaging channels.
• Improve the dashboard and delivery layers, including real-time feedback, channel-specific configuration, observability, error handling, and incremental rollouts.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with engineering managers, technical leads, and senior leadership on technical decisions and business outcomes.
• Write hands-on code across customer-facing dashboard and message delivery systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership across multiple teams or complex product systems.
• Full-stack experience with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React.
• Experience designing and shipping foundational infrastructure, frameworks, libraries, or platform services used by other engineers.
• Strong architectural judgment, communication, mentoring, and consensus-building skills.
• Experience with distributed systems, API design, databases, and event-driven architectures.
• Ability to work in the Austin hybrid environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with shared component libraries or design system primitives.
• Experience with real-time systems and event-driven message orchestration.
• Experience with developer experience tooling, code generation, scaffolding, or CI/CD for large-scale codebases.
• Experience scaling a product from early stage to enterprise scale while maintaining developer velocity.
