What you will do

• Track and integrate upstream Linux kernel developments into the EOS environment.
• Develop and maintain kernel features using C, C++, and Python.
• Collaborate with hardware vendors to qualify new CPUs and NICs for Arista products.
• Contribute features and patches back to the mainline Linux kernel community.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers on kernel development practices.
• Analyze and resolve complex networking issues in collaboration with customer support and system test teams.

Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 3–8 years of relevant experience.
• Expert knowledge of C programming is required.
• Significant hands-on experience with Linux kernel architecture, debugging, and feature development.
• Familiarity with the upstream Linux community patching process.
• Strong understanding of IP networking architecture and principles.
• Familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU architectures.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in C++ and Python.
• Experience with automated test infrastructure development.
