TL;DR

Principal ASIC Design Engineer (Quantum Computing): Overseeing the end-to-end development of critical silicon technologies for quantum computers with an accent on design strategy, RTL development, and system integration. Focus on translating quantum physics requirements into production-ready ASIC designs and managing the long-term silicon roadmap.

Location: Hybrid (Must be based in Boulder, CO or Austin, TX with at least 3 days per week in office)

Salary: $180,000 - $220,000

What you will do

  • Establish internal ASIC design processes and methodologies across architecture, RTL, verification, and tapeout.
  • Lead the end-to-end design strategy from requirements definition through silicon bring-up.
  • Perform hands-on ASIC design, including microarchitecture, RTL development (SystemVerilog), testing, and integration.
  • Manage vendor interfaces, fabrication milestones, and the subsystem delivery schedule for commercial and research projects.
  • Collaborate with quantum physicists, optical engineers, and software teams to ensure hardware meets specific use cases.
  • Influence and develop FPGA designs to prepare and streamline the transition to ASIC production.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of post-degree experience as a hardware engineer.
  • Completion of 2 or more full ASIC design cycles.
  • Proven experience porting designs from FPGA prototypes to ASICs.
  • Proficiency with RTL (SystemVerilog preferred) and implementation of large digital signal processing (DSP) blocks.
  • Must be based in or able to work from Boulder, CO or Austin, TX.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Cadence, Synopsys, or Siemens EDA design tools.
  • Expertise in microprocessor and related digital circuit design.
  • Mixed signal design experience.
