Database Administrator Cloud (MariaDB)

What you will do

• Deliver expert remote DBA services including database monitoring, performance tuning, and durability improvements for global customers.
• Automate repetitive DBA tasks and collaborate with the team to build tools and enhancements for hirify.global.
• Manage SkySQL customers across various cloud environments while ensuring strict adherence to SLAs.
• Design new architectures, implement best practices, perform upgrades, and manage backups and recoveries.
• Conduct periodic health checks, generate reports, and contribute to the community via blogging.

Requirements

• Experience with hirify.global/MySQL, SQL query optimization, and database design.
• Understanding of high availability environments and columnar database platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with database proxying technology.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Must be based in Malaysia; the company does not sponsor work visas or relocation.
• Ability to work flexible shifts (Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs preferred) to provide 24x7 coverage.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud automation toolsets.
• Background in 24x7 support environments or as a hirify.global/MySQL support engineer.
• Working knowledge of other database systems like PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MongoDB.
