Cloud Platform Engineer (DB Specialist)

Location: Hybrid workstyle in Japan; office attendance is expected in alignment with organizational guidelines and team objectives.

What you will do

• Operate databases across mission-critical systems, including monitoring, configuration management, upgrades, scaling, backups, and data migrations.
• Improve the quality and efficiency of database operations through continuous iteration and automation.
• Troubleshoot database stability and performance issues.
• Document operational knowledge, experience, and technical decisions.
• Research, test, and adopt new tools in database ecosystems across hirify.global Group.

Requirements

• More than 5 years of DBA experience, including at least 3 years with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• More than 3 years of recent AWS experience.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, especially Terraform.
• Experience with shell scripting and a programming language such as Python or Go.
• Interest in adopting new technologies and improving operational quality and efficiency.

Nice to have

• Experience automating database or AWS operations.
• Familiarity with Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience operating distributed systems and working in a fully remote environment.
• Experience with Redis, Valkey, DynamoDB, or NewSQL databases such as TiDB.
• Experience with database cost reduction and disaster recovery strategies.
