Application Architect

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work

Salary: CAD 115,000–150,000 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary variable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design application architectures, application models, and services aligned with enterprise architecture principles and standards.
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert for enterprise applications and guide solution design and development.
• Contribute to application architecture standards, governance, reuse, and reduction of technology redundancy.
• Assess proposals, technical designs, feasibility studies, and implementation plans for architectural compliance.
• Lead application performance assessments and evaluate technologies that can improve efficiency or reduce costs.
• Provide architecture recommendations and solutions to business leaders for application changes and enhancements.

Requirements

• University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience and qualifications.
• Experience applying TOGAF or other enterprise architecture frameworks and designing application architecture using established patterns.
• Proven experience with .NET, Java, service-oriented architecture, ESB, service registries, SOAP, XML, web services, BPEL, integration patterns, and governance.
• Experience with web technologies including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and AngularJS, plus strong knowledge of mainframe systems.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies including RUP, Agile, Extreme Programming, SDLC, and Waterfall.
• Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, organizational, and technical leadership skills, with knowledge of information security, confidentiality, and privacy practices.

• Understanding of life insurance and financial services, including policy administration, underwriting, claims, billing, or compensation.
