Lead Software Engineer - Product Builder (AI)

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; hybrid or office-based as required by the role

Salary: CAD 90,000–140,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the full product lifecycle from concept and prototyping through launch, operation, and iteration.
• Build and scale digital products, including an agentic AI platform and client experience solutions.
• Write production-quality code, design microservices and distributed systems, and make pragmatic architecture decisions.
• Prototype MVPs, run experiments, instrument products, and use user feedback and data to guide improvements.
• Lead technical direction through code reviews, design discussions, engineering practices, and mentorship.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to communicate trade-offs, risks, and timelines.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of hands-on software engineering experience with recent production coding work.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, including prompting, code review, testing, security, and validation of AI-generated code.
• Experience designing and building microservices, APIs, and scalable distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating software in AWS or Azure.
• Experience with CI/CD, containers, performance, observability, security, and resilient system design.
• Ability to lead technical direction, mentor engineers, and communicate complex systems clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience in startups, accelerators, or innovation labs.
• Experience building AI/ML systems with LLMs, prompt engineering, or agentic architectures.
