Hardware Technician (Data Center)

TL;DR

Hardware Technician (Data Center): Supporting critical hardware infrastructure in an enterprise data center with an accent on server installations and structured cabling. Focus on rack/stack operations, connectivity troubleshooting, and equipment lifecycle management.

Location: Lake Forest, IL (with occasional travel to Elk Grove Village). Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Salary: $27.88/Hr. - $35.37/Hr.

What you will do

• Install, rack, and maintain data center hardware including servers, storage, and networking equipment.
• Perform rack/stack, cable management, and structured cabling using fiber and copper.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware-level issues.
• Manage inventory, asset tracking, and equipment documentation.
• Handle shipping and receiving of hardware and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate across teams within a multi-team ticketing environment.

Requirements

• 1+ year of experience with structured cabling (copper/fiber) and cable testing.
• Understanding of data center infrastructure (servers, switches, firewalls, routers).
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Experience documenting and tracking IT assets and hardware.
• Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs.
