TL;DR
Senior Library Manager (Records Management): Lead the development and delivery of the University’s records management function, embedding modern, efficient, and compliant records practices with an accent on records lifecycle process design, AI-enabled classification and automated retention, and governance across physical and digital records. Focus on improving M365/SharePoint recordkeeping structures and metadata models while supporting statutory, regulatory, and operational compliance.
Location: Hybrid working pattern with required attendance at Milton Keynes Office (expected 1 day per month on a rota basis plus ad hoc on-campus meetings). Full-time working based from Milton Keynes is also supported.
Salary: £47,389 to £56,535

What you will do
- Shape and develop the records management service, aligning it with organisational needs and regulatory requirements.
- Modernise records practices, including AI-enabled classification, metadata enrichment, automated retention, and improved search and retrieval.
- Oversee day-to-day delivery of records management services and lead records lifecycle processes (creation, capture, storage, access, retention, disposal).
- Provide expert advice on records management legislation, standards, good practice, and digital preservation considerations; support information risk management and audits.
- Partner with IT and business areas to optimise M365 and SharePoint for compliant recordkeeping (structures, metadata models, retention configurations, labels, and governance features).
- Engage stakeholders across faculties and directorates and deliver training, guidance, and communications to build recordkeeping capability.
Requirements
- Proven experience in records management within a complex organisation.
- Demonstrable understanding of records management principles, retention scheduling, metadata, data protection, and digital recordkeeping practices.
- Experience working with M365 and/or SharePoint for information management.
- Ability to design and improve records processes and influence cultural change.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with strong organisational ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Awareness of emerging digital and AI opportunities and risks in knowledge and information management, including responsible and compliant use.
Nice to have
- Experience in higher education, public sector, or similarly complex environments.
- Knowledge of information security and digital preservation.
- Experience supporting audits and policy development.
