Senior Director of Community (PyTorch Foundation)

Location: Based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area; occasional international travel

Salary: $165,000 - $220,000 (bonus eligible)

What you will do

• Build and maintain relationships with AI researchers, developers, and engineers across PyTorch Foundation projects.
• Facilitate technical discussions, knowledge sharing, and community-led initiatives; support community members in their technical journey.
• Gather, prioritize, and communicate community feedback to engineering and internal teams; address technical pain points.
• Evaluate and recommend new open-source projects for Foundation support and identify synergies across communities.
• Coordinate cross-project initiatives and knowledge sharing; maintain community feedback channels and discussion forums.
• Represent the Foundation at local and major industry events, including technical talks, panels, and collaboration with PyTorch Ambassadors.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in developer relations, technical community management, or similar roles.
• Strong technical background in AI/ML with hands-on development experience and ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts.
• Proven experience building relationships within technical communities and managing multiple communities/projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking to evaluate technical projects and open-source growth strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presenting at technical conferences.
• Based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area; availability for occasional international travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with PyTorch or similar deep learning frameworks.
• Background in machine learning research or development.
• Experience working in distributed team environments.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area tech ecosystem and established industry/research network.
