U.S. Federal Government Relations Director (Infrastructure): Developing and driving an enterprise-wide advocacy strategy to shape federal legislation, regulations, and policy priorities with an accent on digital infrastructure technologies, digital twins, AI-enabled solutions, and permitting reform. Focus on translating digital infrastructure vision into impactful public policy outcomes and building high-level relationships with Congress and executive agencies.
Location: Preferred to be in or near Washington, D.C. (metro area); Hybrid if within commuting distance of a Bentley office, otherwise home-based.

What you will do
- Develop and implement a proactive U.S. federal government relations strategy focused on infrastructure investment, AI adoption, and digital transformation.
- Build and maintain high-level relationships with Members of Congress, congressional staff, and executive branch officials (DOT, FHWA, USACE, EPA, DOE, OMB).
- Monitor and influence federal legislation and regulations, including surface transportation bills and AI federal frameworks.
- Advocate for policies that accelerate infrastructure delivery and secure federal funding for projects using advanced engineering software.
- Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on political risks and opportunities, preparing briefing materials and testimony.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, legal, and product teams to position the company as a trusted federal partner.
Requirements
- Must be based in the United States (Preference for Washington D.C. metro area).
- 10-15 years of experience in federal government relations, public policy, or advocacy.
- Proven track record of influencing legislative and regulatory processes on Capitol Hill and within federal agencies.
- Deep understanding of federal appropriations, authorization bills, and rulemaking.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MPP, MBA) preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for drafting policy materials and congressional correspondence.
Nice to have
- Experience advocating for technology adoption in government (SaaS, cloud solutions, digital twins, AI in engineering).
- Familiarity with federal programs such as IIJA, NEPA, Buy American, and FedRAMP.
