Engineering Manager, AI

Location: New York City, NY; hybrid

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Lead and grow the engineering team responsible for agentic infrastructure and evaluation systems.
• Own the technical architecture for workflow agents, including orchestration, model serving, latency, cost per task, and failure handling.
• Partner with Product to define reliability standards for autonomous permit submission and release gating.
• Build evaluation infrastructure, including golden data sets, LLM-as-judge pipelines, human annotation tooling, and online monitoring.
• Drive internal tools for testing, error analysis, and improving agent performance.
• Improve reliability, observability, engineering efficiency, hiring, and team development.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 1+ year in engineering leadership.
• Direct experience building or shipping a production AI or agentic system and owning its supporting infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with evaluation infrastructure such as golden data sets, LLM-as-judge systems, human annotation, or online monitoring.
• Strong system design, architecture, coding, and model-versus-system trade-off skills.
• Ability to lead through ambiguity, structure execution, and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• High standards for engineering quality, reliability, and performance.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow-heavy, enterprise SaaS, or infrastructure products.
• Exposure to complex regulated environments such as construction, logistics, or government systems.
