What you will do

• Shape safety research narratives around alignment, evaluations, preparedness, and interpretability.
• Translate complex technical work into accessible stories for expert and non-expert audiences.
• Partner with safety and alignment researchers to identify and position key ideas publicly.
• Lead proactive storytelling across blogs, explainers, videos, podcasts, and events.
• Manage media engagement and build relationships with science, technology, and AI journalists.
• Identify and mitigate reputational, scientific, or policy risks in high-stakes narratives.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in research, science, technology, or safety-related communications.
• Proven experience working directly with scientists, engineers, or technical leaders.
• Strong understanding of AI, machine learning, safety research, or alignment.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to San Francisco, CA for a hybrid schedule.
