Advanced Technology Exploration Engineer (SoC)

TL;DR

Advanced Technology Exploration Engineer (SoC): Analyzing Performance, Power and Area (PPA) for complex IP and sub-systems in High Performance Processors and Advanced Microcontrollers with an accent on advanced node technologies. Focus on executing synthesis and place-and-route experiments and benchmarking digital IP for optimal product balance.

Location: Hybrid (Austin, USA) - 3 days in office, 2 days WFH. This job may not be performed 100% remote.

What you will do

• Collaborate with architecture and technology development teams to provide technical studies and recommendations for new IP.
• Benchmark processors, accelerator cores, interconnects, and DDR systems for PPA tradeoffs.
• Perform competitive analysis of internal and external IP to determine state-of-the-art PPA metrics.
• Design and execute Synthesis and Place and Route experiments using a complete RTL to GDS flow.
• Evaluate clocking, timing closure, power reduction, and PDN signoff solutions.
• Develop specifications for IP and participate in make-vs-buy analysis to select optimal IP.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (8+ years exp) or MS (5+ years exp).
• Experience in EDA flows for Synthesis and Place & Route.
• Experience architecting complex SoCs in leading-edge process nodes with multiple compute environments.
• Deep knowledge of ARM architecture specifications.
• Experience defining IP components and coding RTL for digital control blocks.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Austin, USA.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO26262 Functional Safety standard and compliance.
