TL;DR

Sr. Applications Engineer (Automotive): Leading the design, development, and launch of heat exchangers for next-generation powertrain vehicles with an accent on customer-facing development and technical leadership. Focus on driving programs from concept to production launch, managing prototype resources, and optimizing thermal management performance.

Location: Oakville, ON, Canada. Must be legally able to live and work in Canada. Travel to production plants and customers required (approximately 20-30% of working hours).

Salary: $85,000 annual base salary

What you will do

  • Lead automotive programs from concept to production, managing quoting, feasibility assessments, and design reviews.
  • Manage prototype workflows, including resource allocation, components procurement, and assembly oversight.
  • Drive technical discussions and deliver presentations to global OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers regarding product architectures and performance.
  • Translate customer specifications into Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) documents and perform DFMEA reviews.
  • Execute APQP processes, navigate financial stage-gates, and provide cost estimations for prototypes and BOMs.
  • Resolve complex engineering issues using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Whys.

Requirements

  • University degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years experience launching automotive programs from concept to production.
  • Experience in heat transfer and/or fluid systems (2-phase flow experience is an asset).
  • Knowledge of sheet metal forming, brazing, and machining limitations.
  • Advanced data-analysis skills using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Legally able to live and work in Canada.
